This is a horrible idea, rock bands with bagpipes. I know that a band called Jefferson Starship did such a thing, in the 70's, on one particular track.

Famously, a Scottish band called "Writing on the wall" were first with this idea, in the late 60's. It is not to everyone's taste!

I think you would be better looking at a genre called "Celtic" music, which is quite popular in scotland and is "an eclectic mix of the modern and traditional" , apparently. These type of bands quite often have electric guitars and bagpipes in their line ups.

Sorry I don't know the names of any of these "Celtic' bands but I am sure someone else can help you track them down. Maybe Runrig, Capercallie or something.

I am a Scotsman but don't even know what the word 'Celtic" really means either. No- one can explain it to me. But what you need to listen to is "Celtic music", sure enough.

There used to be a band in the 80's called Big Country who had a couple of hits, and their songs though they did not contain bagpipes, they actually made their guitars sound like Bagpipes.

Korn. Lead singer Jonathan Davis plays them both in-studio and live. Try their debut cd Korn from 1996. There's a lot of bagpipes on that.
