i just got a maxtor 80gb HDD for my computer im building and i was installing windows xp mini and it started saying can not install file p3. something i forget and it rebooted andnow its saying "NTLDR is missing press any key to reboot" is there a way to fix this and how

The NTLDR file is missing because your XP never finished installing.

I would wipe the hard drive and start over. If it fails again, I would look into either your installation CD bieng bad or your CD-ROM bieng bad.

Your boot files are corrupt or missing NTLDR is a key file needed for the intial boot and subsequent loading of drivers. WIthout this file being available you will need to reinstall the OS. Hopefully your media is good and you wont recieve the same error again. If so the DVD/CD is probably scratch hence you'll need to replace it and try again!

Ditch the mini install and format the drive to install with a full version of XP. Custom mini installs are good and all but the files are there for a reason and they will be called upon at one time or another.

NTLDR Is the NT Boot loader, which is relatively important. Delete the partition and format the drive again is really the quickest way to fix this.
