Has anyone here ever been a victim of internet / e-mail fraud (i.e. - Nigerian 4-1-9 scam, inheritance scam, pyramid scam, etc.)? If so, how much personal information did you give? What would be your advice regarding how to spot these scams and what to do if you come across one?

If somebody you don't know approaches you with any proposition you can safely assume its a scam. The fact that they are appproaching you and don't even know your name should be a dead gine away. Why would somebody with millions of dollars approach a complete stranger much less offer to trust them with millions of dollars?

I’ve never been a victim. If someone emails you that he is the Prince of Nigeria or some garbage similar to that. Then says he has 10mil that he wants to deposit in your account because its not safe anywhere else.....well what makes it safe in a strangers account in the US? Use common sense people. Also any person who wants to buy an item from you that "has an agent in Nigeria" is lying. It's not real regardless of how much money he might send to you. It is a fraudulent check, that will send you to jail if you spend the money (saying it makes it past the bank.) Then you will have to have a nice chat with the Secret Service. Not my idea of fun.

I've seen such emails before, but I didn't respond since I get so many junk emails and they're all so wacky. Mine was some guy saying his family member died in Cayman island or something and offering me free money or something. I've seen several variations. It's hard to track them down and it's just best to don't respond and may be call authorities or something. Don't ever give away personal info through emails. Real companies don't ask to varify personal info, password, address...etc over emails.

If anyone is asking for, or offering you cash over the Internet the only thing to do is DELETE,DELETE, then REPORT! Never respond in any way or you will be inundated with them. NONE are legitimate, so be very careful not to respond even out of curiosity, that is what they are hoping for.
