The key is to ask the question more clearly so the person answering *can't* flip the question around to mean something else. You might want to consider that with this one. :)

Easy - if you know the person, pick a topic he/she would would never shut up about and ask. For instance, people with new babies, you could say, "How is little Johnny? He must be doing all sorts of things by now." They will forget what they ask you and yap on for eons.

My aunt Doris was good at persisting, trying to find out about family gossip, so I learned to turn the tables on her. I would say, "I heard your daughter Julia is getting a divorce - is that true?"

Ask a question with a question. It doesn't have to be about them, it could be about world events, television - anything and be as persistent.

"So, is it true that you and Amy are going to counseling?" (Her)
"Did you watch SpongeBob? That guy is crazy..." (You)
"SpongeBob...listen, is it true - are you going to counseling?"
"You know, I heard on the radio that blizzards ravaged the Midwest."
"...blizzards...what are you talking about? I'm asking you about counseling...are you going or not?"
"I was watching the cooking channel and they have the best sourdough recipe. If you look online, you could get the recipe."
"I didn't say anything about a recipe! Anyway, I'm late....."

Just say I'm not comfortable discussing it right now, then change the subject. Nobody can force it out of you. You are in control of you. That's the nice way to do it. Personally I just say "Nope, can't tell you, sorry". Then I walk away.

All questions have to be answered, except those related to our personal life. In that case we present to the asker one question of the same category.
If the asker asks what is your age, and as a lady, you can say perhaps I am much older than you gess. Then ask: How are your wives!
