No, not true. In fact, Japanese Baseball players did not play baseball that much until after WW2, when the US Soldiers that briefly occupied Japan, taught them the game and spread popularity (it had been in existance over there before, but it gained popularity and acceptance then).
Also, the japanese players did not come over to American until Nomo did it in 1995. Ichiro was the first sucessful position player and this was not until 2001. Many players failed like Heidki Irabu for the Yankees, Kaz Matsui with the Mets, Shinjo with the Giants, etc.
Yes, there are still some great hometown talent in the USA too. I will count A-rod since he's a US Citizen. Ryan Howard, Jeter, Zito, Bonds, Clemmens, Ken Griffey Jr, Huston Street, Dontrelle Willis, Jason Veritek, Derek Lee, Damon, Vernon Wells, etc.

I am living in Japan so I've been able to see games in Japan and back home in the States. I am telling you, the competition here is really good. The Japanese players train hard, play hard and the teams have die hard fans. It is a great atmosphere. Many Japanese players have been coming to the US for more money and more opprotunities. Even though baseball has been in Japan for a long time, Hideo Nomo was the player who "broke the barrier" so to speak for Japanese players coming US.
And what do you mean, "Arent there any ball players in the country anymore?"
I think MLB is the most diverse sport in North America. There is a large Hispanic population in addition to Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Taiwanese players playing in the Majors. America is a diverse country. There are great players from all over playing.

Yes, and pay them big bucks, further distorting the U.S. balance of trade. No doubt a scandal that reached FDR and top execs in the Yankee organization.......... There are a few ball players in this country now and the U.S. is thinking of making the Dominican Republic the 51st state.

I don't think baseball had anything to do with it. They bombed Pearl Harbor and I doubt that the military personnell there were thinking much about baseball at the time.
Getting their baseball players is a bonus though.
