iTunes is free. You only have to pay for music/videos/games downloaded from the iTunes store. You can use this software to manage your own music.

You can import tracks off your own CDs and it will convert them to MP3 files. Or you can add MP3 files individually or by whole folders. It will also let you play your audio CDs.

One of the other good things about iTunes is that you can use it to subscribe to podcasts. Subscribing to audio or video podcasts usually is (and should be) free.

You can also use it to listen to Internet radio stations if you don't want to use any MP3 files at all.

to download itunes it's free, but then it costs 99 cents per song! way rip off!! if you get a regular mp3 player like the Creative Zen V you get more for less money! way better than a nano!

I believe Itunes is free. Just the program. You can download from like the main website. I saw my friend did it and he doesnt have a Ipod
