if a minor is brought to the ER because they passed out due to near overdose from a drug will they get charged for using an illegal drug? what will happen?

the drug was willingly taken but the user was not aware that it contained other more harmful drugs. the minor was 17.

I don't think they will be charged unless the police brought them in. They will just treat the minor and let them go. But they have to have consent of the parent. you know

That would all depend on the situation. Was the minor the one willingly taking the drug? What is the age? It is very possible that a charge can be given, but it really would depend on the outcome of the investigation.

The doctor client confidentiality should cover that, but if the person is a minor they will talk to parents and suggest a rehab center.

at that point it's more important for them to get help. even with booze there might be police involvement. just don't expect much sympathy.
