This question always bothered me. If the USA President George W. Bush is sending other people's children to fight the war in Iraq, then WHY doesn't he send his OWN daughters to Iraq to fight.
Back when there was the capturing of American soldiers overseas in Iraq, and the American soldiers being held hostage and beheaded because President George W. Bush refused to remove the troops from Iraq, the parents of these soldiers were pleading to Bush to have him return the troops back to the USA.
I am sure if it would've been President Bush's daughters that were captured and held hostage, he would've brought back the troops to the USA in a heartbeat, those are his little girls there and he wouldn't want to see them die.
But WHY didn't he do that for the other parents???? It's THEIR sons and daughters as well. Why didn't he put himself in the parent's position, knowing that their son or daughter could be beheaded.

Someone asked this question a few weeks ago, or something similar. I think someone mentioned there is actually a law preventing them from serving becuase of the specific risk you mentioned.

People who join the army are usually people from poor economic backgrounds. They usually only have a high school graduation. Rich people do not join the army so that is why the Bush daughters are not fighting in Iraq. It might also have to with the fact that they don't want to go.

None of the children you speak of have been forced by the government to join the military as there is no draft. When you join the military, you join knowing that something like this could happen. I dislike Bush, but even I can see it's arbitrary to set a sort of draft for his children. If they want to join the army, then they'll join the army, otherwise whatever.

See the Draft Bill that got soundly rejected.
As long as its not their sons and daughters
congress and government will act with impunity
when it comes to war.
I think we would have a much different country
if everyone had to serve in the military. Certainly
would silence the talking heads who criticize
McCain or others for being unpatriotic when
most had draft deferments...
I still have to agree with the Vietnam vets who
got sick when Clinton would salute the military.

Well they would have to join the military and if they were sent then they were sent. Evey man and woman joining the military knows they're probably going to be deployed to the sandbox. They do this because people like you can freely sit around and ask questions like that. My husband has been to Iraq knowing he might not make it back but he did it for his country. They president couldn't just one day say 'oh lets pull all of the troops out'. It doesn't work like that.

I don't get why people keep asking this question. It might make a little sense if we had a draft (like Democrat Rangle would like to see, but we don't, we have an all volunteer military).
First, you are rather assuming that he would not be willing to sacrifice his little girls, but on the other hand, that's exactly why you don't put a president into that position where he is tempted to put personal above US interests.

When are you joining up to go fight? Words are cheap. I don't see you fighting to defend those freedoms that allow you to spout such drivel.
I volunteered to serve, my daughter is serving right now. How about you? How much do you really value the freedoms you have. Prove it to us that have been there. The you'll have the right to spout off and expect to be listened to as if you have a clue.

It is an all volunteer force at this time. If Bush himself did not volunteer during the Vietnam war, why would you think that the twins would? Now if the draft was to be reinstated, I would not bet any money that the twins would not get preferential treatment as their dad.
