Hi,

I am currently in week 5 of my second pregnancy and is having light period now. I visited my gynae yesterday and he gave me a hormonal injection and allylestrenol turinal (3 pills a day)which is to continue for 2 weeks. He instructed me to stop breastfeeding cold turkey.

i like to enquiry if i could carry on breastfeeding my 8 month baby boy throughtout this period. or even if i shouldn't, could i feed my son the expressed milk? (so that i would not have painful engorgement). I really love breastfeeding my son, and i cant stand to see him crying so badly, missing my milk. Even if i have to stop, i like to do it gradually.

Please reply... I desperately looking for help now.

Can you double check the spelling on the meds as I'm having trouble finding info in my sources?

Feel free to message me directly.

You could also call your Lactation Consultant or local La Leche League Leader to look the drugs up for you.

EDITED TO ADD:
Is it just progesterone? Progesterone is listed by the AAP as usually compatible with breastfeeding.

Do not nurse. Turinal is a progesterone, it goes directly into your breastmilk.
