i recently went back to work and i'm pumping. my workplace is very cool with letting me take the time to pump 3 times a day. they also are good with offering me private places where i can pump. i was wondering, are they required by law to accomodate a working mother who wants to pump, or am i just lucky? are other moms out there having similar experiences in the workplace or does their work frown upon taking the time to pump?

It depends on what state you live in. There are a few states that have passed laws to help make continuing to breastfeed and pump easier for working moms.

It depends on your state. In CT where I live they are required to provide a location that is not a restroom to allow you to pump. Some states do, and some some states have no laws about breastfeeding at all. So you are quite lucky :). I work my day job out of my house now, but when I didn't know if I'd be going back I used to joke around with the HR guy about having a "milking station" lol...

There is a lady who I work with who chooses to use the executive bathroom though, cause it's more private then the conference room in the back of the office, and it has a sink so she can was the pump parts off.....

:)

In the US they are required by law to provide a place.. sadly that's often just the bathroom. It sucks to sit in a stall and pump when someone's pooping next to you ... you just get into a good pump and everything is going good then the moment is lost when someone comes in.

My current job has a nice little room with a small bed and a sink.. it's wonderful.
