I forgot to ask my doctor at my last appointment, but my nose is SOOO stopped up. What can I use?

I know that I can use sudafed and claritin, but neither really work for me.

Any suggestions would be great.

I would be dying without it (I am 32 weeks). They are fine, BUT....pregnant or not, it is important to really follow the dosage carefully and do not use it extendedly as it can cause rebound congestion. AND...in one case of mine a few years back, it caused a little neucrosis of my kidney (healed itself) since your kidneys filter everything.

Your OB can prescribe a steroid spray that will eventually help alleviate congestion......it isn't exactly an IMMEDIATE fix (and that sucks!), but it does help when used properly.

Also...try like Vicks Vapo-Rub on your chest or even put a tad on your nose...that stuff is also wonderful!

Call the OB's answering service.

Call a local OB nurse (hospital)

It is best not to use anything (medication) that isn't specfically approved.

Try a cool mist humidifier, or this can be hard to do at first - a saline nasal spray. You squirt the stuff up and then let it drain back out your nose - it can clear things up.

Your local hospital should have a nurse help line. You can call and speak to a professional. It's a great tool and nice that you don't feel like your bothering someone. If they don't know they'll ask a doctor :))

Have you tried saline drops? They are just simple salt water drops. You can get recipes online, but we use the Little Noses brand. I don't share bottles, but we each have our own. With hubby and baby both having allergies it's a must and they work wonderfully!

I used nasal spray with my 2 pregnancies and didn't have a problem, but make sure your blood pressure is not elevated. I think it could raise your bp more.

Yes, nasal spray is fine. That's actually what my doctor TOLD me to use when I was pregnant, rather than cold medicine.

You should definitely check with your Doctor...but mine prescribed Rhinocort Nasal spray for me while I was pregnant, and said it was safe.
