You SUDDENLY discover that you are not "half the man/ woman, you used to be". And the problem is just that. You suddenly discover that you have aged.
Getting used to the idea that you have aged and accepting it is a PROCESS that takes time. It is in this meantime that women/ men have a hard time disclosing their age.

I think it's a hold over from a previous generation when youth and beauty really mattered. I just read that 60 is the new middle age, but I remember my parents being very upset at turning 40.

I'm staring down the barrel of 30 and plan on having a great party to celebrate surviving my 20s!

I don't know about other women but I'm not afraid or embarrassed about my age, which is 58. It's that like so many other things in life, occasionally you're judged because of your age. Some people see your white hair and assume that you're senile or unable to do anything. In stores and restaurants older women are sometimes ignored. I'm not saying these things because I think everyone should be nice to women just because they're old. Everyone has to earn respect. I don't really worry about what other folks think of me, but I don't want to be ignored because of my age.

i'm with you each of ways. the only actual thank you to steer clear of hitting 40 is to die early and that i'm actual hostile to that! My granny is now 104 years previous and dealing in direction of the subsequent birthday. She used to tell all and sundry how previous she replaced into (she's kinda lost music now). She replaced into in no way ashamed and that i don't see why I could be. that is foolishness that announces a girl could basically be alive if she's youthful after which keel over ineffective the minute she hits 30. i did not. and that i don't intend to purposely lie down and die on the different "magic" type. whilst the sturdy Lord makes a decision my time has come, I reckon he will come and get me!

Some women don't feel right revealing their age.
You know the saying, age is just a number, well they don't go by
that saying.
They are saying in their heads " oh, if i tell him my age, he probaly
will think i am an old person"

Hey my mom is 64 and she reveals her age with no problem.
And yes it is just physical beauty.

I believe its a combination of all the things you listed.
For me as a male, getting older and watching my lady peers age is kind of cute, REALLY!!
A fine wine always matures with age and develops its best characteristics. I personally find that if a woman does her little things to appear lovely and sexy, she usually is. Its knowing how to do it without the "SEE ME" effect.
Knowing how to present yourself in public covers many of the little flaws so many of you ladies seem to THINK you have.
Remember, its the content of the bottle that really counts.

Maybe these people have had negative experiences for disclosing their true age. In reality, the society makes such a big deal about women's age--not men's age, so I won't blame them.

I am one of those women who DO NOT want to get old. (Call it denial. I know that everyone gets older whether we want to or not.) I feel young on the inside. I don't like seeing those gray hairs keep coming in or the wrinkles that keep showing up on my face & hands. (I'm 42)
