I'm a lesbian, and pretty much everyone i've ever talked to about it says I can't have children and be a mother when I'm older. Well, I want to anyway.

What are your opinions on adoption, artificial insemination, or just choosing a close friend to be a father? Which do you think would be best for the child, and which do you think would be the easiest for the mothers to deal with?

Well...any of the above are great options. It's a personal decision. I was adopted...not to fond of my alcoholic dad, but nonetheless...if you would be a great parent go for it. Artificial insemination has its positives, particularly if you wanna carry your partner's baby and both be biologically connected to the child.

I had a gay male friend of mine ask me to be a surrogate for him in which I would be a part of the child's life. Again, ok for me, but you must decide for yourself what will be right for you. I wish you the best. Children are such a joy. I have 2 myself. Never give up, if that's what you want.

I feel adoption is a great option for the classic reason of giving a needy child a good home. I feel if you do become pregnant by a close male friend, it could turn ugly. What if he suddenly wants custody of the child later on when he was mearly just supposed to be the "sperm donor."

However, on the other hand, if you want your child to have a Mother and Father influence (assuming the male is willing to be a part of the child's life as a father and not just the "sperm donor"), this could be an option.

I think artificial insemination is just too impersonnal. If you are going to become pregnant, I say use a close male friend so your child at least had the option of knowing who his/her father is.

I wonder about this exact thing. First off, if you want kids, have kids because that is your choice. I hate it when people say lesbians ( and gays) can't have kids, because we can. Especially lesbians, they can always do it via artificial insemination. And gay make just as good parents as anyone else. How you parent you kids makes you a good parent, not your orientation.I myself will try to have kids via artificial insemination first. Then i might try to adopt, but that's really hard for gays. As far as getting a close friend,I think that's too complicated because as you and your wife raise your kids, the fact that that friend is always around could be awkard, though it might not be. What you can do is find a sperm bank that has donors that allow the child to contact them once they turn 18, because your child(ren) may want to know who their father is.

Artificial insemination (AI) is the easiest, but not cheap. I would recommend donor sperm so that you don't know the person involved and they can't decide that they want to be part of raising the child. Many countries will not allow adoption by homosexuals. China is now excluding single woman from adopting as of January 2007. If you are going to go for (AI) you should have a workup to make sure everything is okay. I did AI twice and then found out I have polycystic ovarian syndrome which makes it difficult to conceive.

I'd say it's your decision. personally if I wanted children, I'd adopt. The artificial insemination issue is a tricky one. there isn't anything wrong with it but you do need to get a reputable place, one that does background screenings and complete family histories. The close friend would be a bad option in my opinion. I can't see someone knowingly making a child, knowing where that child is and not wanting to be a part of the kid's life.

From most to least I like: adoption, artificial insemination, close friend.
Adoption is good because the human population is *not* dying out and there are an overabundance of us as there is. Why bring out another person when there are already plenty of others waiting for you?

Art. insemination is fine, but a bit cold and clinical.

Friend is just a no in my opinion. People get clingy when they get involved in the process of something that they're aware of happening, and friends you're friends with now don't always stay that way in the future.

I wouldn't recommend getting impregnated by a man you know, mostly because it could create complications... and though I don't know your partner, I'm not so sure if she'd be very happy with the idea.

I think an adoption might be the best option to look into first.

AI is really expensive (like 12 grand a pop) and rarely works the first couple of tries. adoption can be inconvenient depending on your states laws and the bio parents state laws. honestly grab a friend and just do it. male precum and the penis' shape help the female parts to work more efficiently and it's more likely to take the first time.

Adoption is best because I think that a lot of gay people feel misplaced from society and that the orphan children feel the same way so I think that there is a bond there can be really beautiful.

But I'n str8 so I'd rather **** a cute blond guys brains out to make a baby.
