Artificial. When you have pets, you learn
that cats like to climb real trees,
and dogs like to pee on them.

We've always had a REAL one (as in, growing... not even cut down! lol)
I don't have a family of my own yet, so christmas is always at my parent's place.. when I was a kid we had this little pine tree which we'd bring inside and stick on the kitchen table... in it's pot with a tray and stuff under it... then it got bigger so we'd stick it in the middle of the lounge floor... but eventually it was so tall that it would touch the roof so we planted it in the back garden! Then we moved onto this little Pohutukawa tree (aka the "New Zealand Christmas Tree" - though I doubt many other Kiwi's have actually used one AS their xmas tree...!) - and so sometimes we use that still (it's sort of a bonsai tree, so doesn't get too big) and sometimes we use a new little pine tree that my brother dug up from the side of some random country road...

I reckon it's really great having a real tree - it's something alive and beautiful, I don't think it's as messy as a cut down real tree, and it's somehow so much nicer than plastic ones...

I'll be getting a real tree again this year but that wasn't the original plan. My significant other has a 3 ft fake tree I was planning to put on top of the card table this year because of the overly exuberant new dog we have. However, I couldn't find his tree in the basement and then I recalled him giving it to someone last year (he doesn't remember) so now I have to go with a real tree and hope for the best.

Artificial.... I cannot breath with a real one in the house! I have extreme allergies... even though I live in the middle of the woods in the middle of no where!
