If married, committment. If single, maybe afraid of being alone, dreading the time it would take to find someone else, etc.

Because, many women as girls were brought up to believe (with the help of barbie, cinderella, snow white, rapunzel etc) that men are kind, considerate, passionate and loving.
We have been taught to believe that if when we meet a man, he isn't naturally like that, then WE can change him. If a relationship isn't perfect, WE can make it so AND relevant to your question.. if there is no passion... we BELIEVE that it will miracuously come back.
Importantly, alot of men are aware that alot of women are fantisists and they cunningly promise through actions or words that what is missing in a relationship will soon be rekindled.
These are the reasons why women stay in relationships with no passion.

Wow all these answers are so sad, but unfortunately they are rather true. Most women are predisposed to be submissive during the sexual part of a relationship. (She is his equal in all other aspects.) I personally think it is part of being a woman. In the scheme of things. It is the Yin to his Yang. If the guy is a wonderful, selfless person who is devoted to his woman this submission can be such a beautiful, precious thing. But if he is like most guys, and is a selfish, self centered jerk, then he will take that beautiful precious submission and use it like mop to clean up the immediate area surrounding his ego. He depends on to survive in. Most men are scared, little boys when it comes to their relationships, and they want everything given to them just like mommy did. A relationship is a living breathing thing that must constantly be nourished and feed from both sides. It grows and changes as each of us grows and changes beside it. The Yin must feel secure in the strength of the Yang, while the Yang must feel cherished and coveted by the Yin. Both must understand the needs of the other before they can fit together like the light and dark sides of the mountain in this famous and meaningful logo. This takes growth which requires change. Passion dies easily if it is not nourished from both sides. Worse yet is when it is taken and used and not given back. Then the spirit dies, and only the body remains to be used and even abused, but not loved. What a terrible shame.

Because if they love the person they are with, then they feel obliged to stay with them!
If HOWEVER they really love the person, they may want to have secret 'affairs' of the heart and not let the other person know! This can help retain the current ralationship and help smooth things through a difficult patch! But the affiar persona MUST realise that they are SHORT term!

insecurity - and the need to be in a relationship - hence not wanting to take the risk of leaving for another guy cos the relationship might not work out, and so will end up with no one. factor like passion is worth the compromise

Love and/or feelings of obligation. it can also be from low self-esteem or just being comfortable in the situation/relationship they are in. It really depends on the person.
