We have a judge locally who handles family law cases. He has a drinking problem and was busted for DUI. They moved his case to a county 2 counties away so as to avoid any real press coverage. He was found guilty, the presiding judge levied the lightest sentence possible and ordered his records sealed. Judge ___ Smiley ______ was an appointed judge, appointed by former Florida Gov Martinez (Governor Dracula, former drug czar) and as such, has a job for life.
The likely outcome is to bury the whole mess unless there were just too many witnesses.
This judge here was really a piece of work....

I have seen it happened where a judge was driving under the influence and caused an accident. The judge was charged just as anyone would be, goes to court and if found guilty, gets punished, just like anyone else.

There was a young, very respected judge in L.A. who had an accident while DUI, and his girlfriend was killed. He also tried to run from the scene, but was too injured to get away.
He just got out of prison recently.
He threw his whole life away because he chose to drink & drive.

They get charged just like anyone else, and also have to face an inquiry and ethics committee that could take away rights to be a judge or lawyer.
