I have a 98 Chevy Cavalier. What happens is when I leave the car in the shade it starts no problem. If it's left out in the sun for several hours it cranks and eventually turns over. I've noticed that if I give it gas it will fire right up. But it is wierd to me that it works in the shade and doesn't work when it's in the sun. At first I thought the battery was bad so I got it replaced, but it's still cranking. The car has 75,000 miles. Would it be a bad vaccuum hose (I saw that had to do with hot and cold from "Hard starting 2001 Cavalier)?

Check your throttle control sensor. Try cleaning the throttle body with a carb cleaner. Change gas filter. Should fix problem. Check air cleaner.

It sound like a fuel delivery problem. Check the place where you park is it on a hill or flat? You may have a fuel hose that when the vehicle is parked causing the hose to open or close. Check the fuel system including the gas cap. Good luck and GOD Bless.

My first check would be a fuel pressure check, done by a pro in a decent facility. If that's good have the car scanned, there could be a bad sensor without throwing a code to turn on the check engine light.
