I have a 1995 Toyota Corolla and just recently left my keys locked in the car which drained the battery temporarily, then I got a boost from another car and now runs good for past 2 days, however today when I was turn slowly in the parking lot the steering wheel would lock up and be hard to turn and the battery light would come on. The car never shut off but was so hard to turn slowly and the battery light would come on, then I'd manage to get the car straight again and it would drive as usual, any clues or help as to what the problem could be? Thanks.

It sounds like the belt is slipping or the power steering pump is locking up (or both) I do not think it is related to your earlier problem. The first thing to do is check your power steering fluid level, and the condition of your belts!

Sounds like your idle is low, when you turn, it affects your powersteering and robs power which causes your engine to almost die and thus your battery light comes on. I would check your idle adjustment, your idle RPM should be posted under your hood on a sticker, If it is O.K, Have you had a recent tune up or air filter change, or even try looking for a leak in the air intake system, Hope this helps.

Sure, sounds like your power steering and alternator belt is loose. This causes the alternator not to charge enough to keep the battery up, hence the "boost" you needed, and the slippage on the belt causes the power steering to fail, hence the "hard turning. :-) Check the belt and replace or tighten up and should fix both troubles.

Your alternator could be draining your battery, especially since two days later it happened to you while you were driving. You can take it to Auto Zone for a free test.

I would get the alternator checked and have the serpentine belt checked also, it almost sounds like the belt is loose or the tensioner for the belt is bad. When you had your car jumped to start it they didn't get the cables crossed did they? if they did it could have done damage to the alternator.

I would think check out your power steering, which reminds me I need to check mine too. And Alternator too probably the belt.
