hello! i just wanna know the answers to this questions.. when you type ipconfig in the dos promt it says media disconnected, what does this one means and the cause of this and how to resolve it... another one is i see at the bottom right of my desktop saying, limited or no connectivity.. what's this and how will i resolve it? how will you know that a network adapter is busted? how to get the ip address of a 2wire modem

if you type Ipconfig /all and it tells you that the media is discnnected, that it doesn't see your network card. Limited or no connectivity means just want it says, is this a wireless connection? They have their own special problems. If not, you may have a bad cable.

Try reinstalling the driver for the network card.

media disconnected means simply that "it's not plugged in". So DOUBLE CHECK to make sure that it's connected between your PC and the modem. If everything is installed, then you might want to double check to make sure that your NIC is not disabled.

all it means is that the cable is not plugged in. If the cable, infact, is plugged in check that the cable is plugged in on the other end. That message indicates that the pc knows there is a network adaptor of some type attached to your machine, it just can not talk to the network.

It means that ,if your NIC is disconnected .... then it wil show the option media diconnected...
just unplug the network cable and insert it..........
# The option limited or no connectivity is displayed if ur Duplex settings are wrong........
# To resolve this......Right click on
My Network----->Properties----> right click on Local area connection----->properties----->Duplex---->select tcp/ip-----> properties-----> in that select AUTO tab .................. THen select OK ............
if u do this it will not show the error

Type This In Internet Explorer (Only If You Use Modem)
http://192.168.1.1
And Check it Out
Unplug one of your wire....
Only use one......
