As far as advertisers are concerned, it's a great marketing tool that allows them to hit a very specific group of consumers that will most likely both enjoy and have the disposable income to purchase their product.
Those who subscribe to the NFL Network are obviously football fans who are willing to pay an extra premium to have 24 access to their favorite sport. This tells companies that these individuals are readily indulgent and not afraid to spend. As long as their product has appeal to the 25-55 yr old male crowd, the NFL Network is a very attractive sponsorship opprotunity.
I believe that the NFL Network will be with us for quite some time, and only get bigger. It's funded by the most powerful organization in all of sports. In a few years, it's popularity will be 2nd to only ESPN (if it's not already). Football is the most popular sport in the United States by almost a 3-1 margin. As long as the NFL is king, the Network will be there to ride it's coattails.
As far as watching it, yes, I do. It's a terrific brand of broadcasting that gives you insights into the sport as well as the day to day lives of the players that other networks can't. The NFLN is in a unique position because other networks aren't afforded the same kind of access that they get to the teams and their staff, and other stations, like ESPN, have to provide more variety to hold on to their massive market shares.
For football fans, though, you really can't beat the NFL Network.

The main reason I'm not watching it is that it is not in HD. If there is a particular game I am interested in such as the Niner-Seahawk game on December 14, I will watch, but otherwise I won't. Maybe others are like me and the Thursday games will be just one more game a week that is like overkill. I don't need to see all of the games, and this year I'm mostly watching on Sundays, including the evening games with Madden and Michaels (who I think are the best and most entertaining commentators). I have gotten bored, Bored, BORED with the Monday night games this year.

I really hope they drop the idea of broadcasting games on NFL network only. I hate the idea of having games broadcast only on the NFL Network, because I live In Tijuana, Mexico and our Cable company doesn't carry this channel, so we can't watch those games, I'm really pissed, otherwise, I can watch games on San Diego's Fox, CBS or NBC, L.A.'s Fox or NBC, or on our Mexican Cable system on the Fox Sports Latino or ESPN Latino, and also there is a Mexican broadcast channel that carries games. But we don't get to see that game that should be on national TV, I hope the NFL takes into account their international fans and make a deal with foreign companies, like for example, the NBC Sunday night game, in Mexico is broadcast on ESPN Latino, they could make a deal like that.

Because of the limited audience, advertisers can get an ad for less money, and thus will still be likely to keeping advertising. I think it will stay for awhile, but I don't get it on my cable system, so I can't watch.

They are just doing it to make money. If enough people fall into the trap and actually buy it then they will keep it but if nobody is getting it then they will get rid of it.
