boras will probably want to get him 6 yrs/17 million. If I were the mets/rangers etc. I wouldn't really offer him more than 4 years/ 15 million. He's about equivalent to schmidt as far as I am concerned. They were the top two pitchers available if I recall. And I don't think schmidt is worth his deal either.
Yes, Zito is a total work horse and hasn't missed a game in his entire career. However, his stats have been steadily declining since his cy young year. opening day last year against they yankees was an embarassment, and again in august with the rangers. Guys are figuring out how to hit the curveball. He gives up a lot of walks and is a fly ball pitcher. stick him in Texas and watch the balls fly out of the park on a nice warm summer night with the breeze going to right field. in 2006 he had a career high 99 walks, and gave up 1 shy of his career high home runs.

It depends on how many years he signs for. I heard the Matasuzaka deal will play into it as well. Both him and Zito are represented by Boras and he'll look to get Zito as good of a deal.
I say 4 years at 17.5 Million a year.

More than he's worth, that's for sure.
Watch Scott Boras hose another team for millions while the goods will remain undelivered. Zito will flame out within the next two years. I would never, ever sign this guy.

I think Zito will get anywhere between $12-17 million a year especially since his agent is Scott Boras and he will get every cent he can get.

You are dead on. That's exactly what he'll get.
Cy Young winner, and a warrior. With teams overpaying for former waiver wire chumps like OF Gary Matthews, he'll get $17 million for 3-4 years, with club options. They may even toss him a few incentives for innings, All Star, Cy Young, wins, etc.
He's good. Even in the specialist era, a starter of his caliber is worth a ton.
