Where do you live? I live in Gadsden, AL. Other than the mall and fast food places, try becoming a page for the Senate. Or you could test ATVs. Or you could refurbish tanks. Or maybe, if you're in West Virginia, try a coal mine. I don't know. Try looking in the newspaper. There are always options in there that i never thought about before. I started in fast food. What's wrong with fast food except for low pay crummy hours wacked managers and being everybody's slave? And if you're in the mall, then you get to say hi to every rich person you know every day! Try the library.

I think that you may want to think about what career you'd like to go into. I wanted to go into nursing at your age so I took some courses to become a phlebotomist and started working @ 17 in a hospital. I took the classes little by little with my high school and finished up over the summer. It takes ~ a year to train for a lower level job in the feild that u want to go into but the experience is so worth it. Not to mention you will be getting a pay check. check out trade schools and community colleges and interview ppl in the feilds you are interested in order to make connections. You can do it. Don't let your age make you think that you can not.

just about anywhere! Usually stores are a good place to work. Walmart, Target blah blah blah. good thing is that you can get them on your resume. remember you always have to start somewhere! I rather start there than at a fast food place. Nothing wrong with fast food but if you dont have to then dont!

You could work as a cashier, although that is not much better. Pretty much fast food places and retail are the only places that take 16 year olds.

Yah, my kid has said the same thing for months and he still doesn't have a job, but he's got a car insurance bill to pay. I think he's going to end up at McDonald's!!!

I think you and he need to learn how to say, "And would you like fries with that?" because first jobs are really hard to get, and you need to find a place that's desperate for help, like a restaurant.

I worked for a non profit organization in high school, try the ones in your area. They almost always need some kind of help.
