If I complete all pre-requisites and decide to go to a nursing school at a more competitive, prestigous college, is it possible? What are my chances? I understand that I have to have a high GPA, but how high should it be? What else? PLease help.

most nursing schools have limited slots and just because you have the high GPA and all the prereq. doesn't mean that you will pass the interview and be accepted into the program. When most places go to hire nurses, they aren't too picky about where they graduated from..as long as you can pass the NCLEX..you are a nurse..you can get a job...if it were me and I am already accepted in a program..stay there. You would hate to transfer and not be able to get in at the new school. I do understand the "prestigious" name and that's important but understand that "prestigious" also means there will be a LOT of students and when you are trying to get into a program that has a very few slots like nursing you are taking a big chance.gl with your decision

It depends on the college. You'll need to do your homework to get specifics on different schools. Many nursing schools are highly competitive, while others are just a lottery and students' names are litterally drawn out of a hat. Some need as high as a 3.9 gpa to be competitive, some don't factor gpa at all, just pre-reqs.

Contact the nursing department of your schools and start asking these questions. Good luck. We need nurses!
