I realized that the world did not stop. In my twenties I thought I must live my life hard and fast because thirty was coming. In my thirties I thought I best become responsible because I would soon be 40 and that was too old for anything fun. In my forties I thought What the Hey, the last few years were a joke, I might as well have some fun because I'll soon be fifty and that is way too old for fun. Can you believe I am not the slightest bit worried about turning 60, except if I had of known getting this far was so much fun I would have taken better care of myself..

The year I turned 30 I killed 43 people in Desert Storm, everything changed, I saw dead eyes. on burnt faces, I learned what pain really was about, I looked at everyone as a single person and not tied to everyone else. I wondered as hard as life is why are we making it harder for the children of the world.

My priorities changed, I became more focused on reaching certain goals. I've achieved almost all of them except for about one or two, and before I turn 40, I'll have another set which will change my life.

I turned 30 aboard a US Navy Amphibious Warship off the coast of Somalia. I watched three sharks take turns swimming up inside a dying whale, slowly disembowling it, and decided I would leave the Marine Corps upon my contract's end date.

Before 30 my first two thoughts were 1. When I would get laid next. 2. When the next tennis court would open up.

When I passed 30 the open tennis court was more important. LOL

My confession....... . Yes. For the first time I started to think that time was running OUT. Till the end of the 20s I thought that life was starting but little did I realise that the "rat race" had begun. You run , chasing career, money, wife, family, pleasures..... .Or else time would run out.

I really realized I was an adult.... my parents began having some health problems and I was helping take care of them. It is a very strange thing to become a caretaker to your parents. The responsiblity is incredible.

I think I've become more passionate about life. I feel like I know more and know less (and odd paradox, yes). I care more about the news and world affairs. It's clearer now how temporary life is.

Hope that helps.

I really started thinking for myself. I left religion, and a lot of what had been drilled in to my head behind and became a new - happier person.
