Iam a first time parent and i need advice on something that i said to my daughter 16months i play with her and sometime i use the word sexy but my wife thinks i shouldn't use it with her but i say it as a playing around with her in front of my wife.

The word "sexy" should not be used for your 16 month old daughter. Call her "pretty", or "cutie pie", but NEVER sexy!

You should never call a child especially your own daugther sexy cute, pretty, lovely, but never sexy. That word is used to discribe and adult woman that you are attracted to. Stop and think before you speak. Look up the meaning of the word and maybe you will understand how your wife and others feel.

Calling your daughter sexy? Nah, man that's just asking for trouble. When I read that the first things that came to my mind were "Pedophilia" and "Incest". Don't go there. Your wife is right. Listen to her on this one.

I had one daughter and 3 sons. My daughter was always a stunning young woman in my eyes, and yet I never told her that outright. I encouraged her to believe she was beautiful as most women often have such nagging doubts about that. It is important to give your daughter example as a stable, loving husband as she will "marry her father" psychologically. But I never wanted to make her think I was viewing her as a sexual object. Her sexuality was something she would have to develop on her own. I was always there for her, and answered many of questions as she grew into a woman. She knew I would tell her what I knew, and that I would really strive to tell her the truth as I understood it. I think it is important to convey to her how you respect her, and admire her as a woman particularly as her Dad, but to speak in terms of sexuality, particularly at her age is a bit inappropriate I think.

I would luv to help you with this issue, but your example is vague. If you are calling your daughter sexy then it does not seem appropriate.

That's not an appropriate word to use to or even in front of a child. That word is an adult word.
