never get up to change the TV?

The remote symbolizes power. Without it, power is lost. Getting up to change the channels is an admittance of defeat and of lost power.

Because people flip through the channels all the time, between comercials, when there bored, when a show ends and so on. Looking for the remote creates less work for them in the future.

I go to the tv. I was raised in the age before remotes.
