I have a SUPER cute little dog which obviously attracts little kids (or adults) wanting to pet him. but, HE BITES! Usually, when I'm holding him he's fine when someone tries to pet him But after I put him down, he bites their pants and once ripped my friend's pants! my dog bit the mail man, and once, some teenage "CoOl" boys were skateboarding down my street. My dog got out and started chasing after them. (It was funny because the "cool" 13 year olds were screaming and skating and even running for their lives) he is set off by skate boards and bikes, or anything wierd looking when in the dark.Sometimes he is set off by big men. My dog is so cute, but so vicious! what should i do? (he is a chiwawa mixed with manchester terrior and i got him at the pound)

this pup also nocks over trash cans looking for candy wrappers and leaves a mess. he also RUINS any stuffed animals he can get hold of. i have been using a choke collar(doesn't REALLY choke them, for all u amertures) and i once used a scock collar. and no, i didn't actually shock him, i just made the collar make a noise that spookes him. ive gotten so many of these colars because he either chews them or they fall of and get ran over by a car... but now, i jst use a choke collar

my dog is TOTALLY good with familiar people like my family and friends, its just when i walk him i the park and he sees strangers. but we do our best to keep him away from little kids. if we walk by anyone, i hold his lease close and make it very short so he cant lunge.

Well, either don't take the dog out in public, and keep it confined, or get ready for a lawsuit!!!!!
It may be funny NOW to see it chasing the boys, but when it bites one, you are going to have some trouble and they will be laughing.....all the way to the bank!!!

You thinking it is funny and your general attitude is part of the problem. I am sure the dog has felt rewarded for the behavior and keeps doing it!!!

You will seriously want to consider taking action into this manner. A vicious dog is certainly not something you want to deal with. You dog needs training and "Doggie School" may be something you want to consider to control his behavior. It may be cute or funny that he chases or ripes someone's pants, but he will one day seriously inquire someone and this will bring the Law to your doorstep. Too many reports of "attacks" will lead to your dog being put down for being vicious.
If your dog has bit the mailman, you can bet that this report has been filed and it is on record as a strike against your dog.
Our dog had chased and bit the neighbors dog twice and we were told that if it happened a third time, the dog would be confiscated and put down.

Please do not hesitate and get him enrolled in a behavior class. Contact the pound in which you got him or local pet stores about what you can do to cure him of this extremely dangerous habit.
If you have a PetSmart in your area, they offer Doggie Obedience class. You can check with them for enrollment (if they will take you)

I always hate seeing muzzles on dogs, but.... I think the guy who said get a muzzle is right. Obedience classes, muzzle, and in the meantime, just keep showing him lots of love. You don't know what happened to him before he reached the pound, so he may have some past things to work through. You can help him do that with a combination of love, a muzzle when he's in public, and obedience classes.

Good luck! ;-)

People ought to know better. They should never pet a dog without asking the owner first, for exactly that reason.

Try a muzzle. Also, if he's not neutered, get him neutered. It will cut down on his aggression.

put a muzzle on him when out in public places until you can get him trained to be around other people. if he bites someone and they report it to the police you can be sued and your dog may be put to sleep. how do you discipline him when he behaves this way? you may need to call the dog whisperer. i have a pit bull but i think my dog would be scared to death of your dog :) good luck

Take him to obedience classes and train him really well not to bite people... And put him on a leash when outside... If he's still biting, then when people come over put a muzzle on him.
