So is Lavasoft and AVG basically the same thing then? And how often do you run registry cleaners?

In my opinion you can never have enough spyware programs, as long as you have room on your computer keep them. Some are better than others and may detect things that other ones don't find.
As far as antivirus, you only need one of those. Never use two anti-virus products at the same time. Having two different antivirus programs installed on one computer can cause conflicts. Completely uninstall one before installing another
//AVG is an antivirus program
Lavasoft adaware is an antispyware program
Keep them both!

If you have the resources you will never have enough antispyware. I always use atleast four antispyware programs because the antispyware companies don't all update at the same time. Plus there is so much spyware out there that you will find that having three or four will find what one or two missed.
Please know that you only use one antivirus software or you will have serious conflict with your system. Same for your choice of firewall.
Below is the link to an excellent free antivirus program from AOL, powered by Kaspersky Lab, Russia, rated #1 in the world for virus detections. Free for life with a key they will send you. Real time scanner background, shutdown and bootup.

Use AVG. I use to get a lot of virus. Things like spyware and junk. LIke every week i would catch something online and all these grabage pop ups would start shoting and things i didn't even install on my computer would install themself. It was crazy! And I was using norton! THE PAID VERSION! it didn't even do ZIP! So i tried AVG and for 2 years now i've been virus free! Its great! =)

AVG is an antivirus package, if you keep it up to date, you don't need norton or microsoft antivirus. I would keep them all. If you have the free version of Ad-Aware and Spybot, update them and run them regularly, I generall recommend one a week for each.

Actually why you think it’s too many? Its not the same with firewalls and anty viruses as it is with anty spywares. Most experts recommends using more than few anty spwyare programs as no single one is able to detect more than 75% off all possible malwares. I use 4 A-spies myself. Some free low overhead solutions (for limited resources PC):
