You can search around in Printer Properties, then Preferences and find the ink level. Usually will show a pic of how much ink there is for black and for the colors.

Either the settings on your printing software are set too low or you are running out of ink. Try checking 'Preferences' when the print window comes up. In here you should find options to change the print quality and brightness/contrast.

Perhaps you need to run the cleaning utility for your printer?

Also check File > Print > Preferences> and check under "print quality" to see if you are printing under "fast draft" or something similar.

Your printer should have it's own program to check ink content or a way to clean the nozels dispensing ink look there

You could have gotten an old cartridge. If you printer software provides software tips, use that to see if you can determine the problem.
