There is a big difference between Spanish food and Mexican food. Other countries in South America also speak Spanish and have different cuisines. Mexican food is the easiest to make for Americans because we are very familiar with it.
Mexico is known for its yummy chocolates that have other spices in them. This is a fun way to enjoy chocolate and spread new knowledge and information about Mexican culture, instead of more boring Taco Bell foods. Here is a great recipe for Mexican hot chocolate: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Easy-Mexican-Hot-Chocolate/Detail.aspx Another interesting bit of information about Mexican cuisine includes their variety of famous drinks: tequila, cerveso (beer), margarita (lime cocktail with tequila), horchata (rice milk), aguas fresca (fresh cold waters - - made w/ fruits). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aguas_frescas

Here are some Spanish recipes. Spanish rice and tappas are popular Spanish foods. http://allrecipes.com/Search/Recipes.aspx?WithTerm=Spanish+&Page=1
Here is a wikipedia article on Spanish cuisines, with a list of typical Spanish dishes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_food . There are some great "see also," and "external links," at the bottom of the article for other fascinating information about different countries that prepare Spanish cuisines and for some recipes.
Good luck on your presentation. I'm sure you'll do a great job.

This is fairly easy for me to answer, because I, too, am in 9th grade Spanish 1. I would try something original such as Agua Frescas or something like that

ok honey, you came to the right recourse. What kind of food though. Many have different typical plates. Look in yahoo search for say... cuba's typical food, or Argentina typical food, or Ecuador's and so forth...all the south american countries....
Or look for the country's info specifically and then it'll tell you about their food. Hope that helps!! Good luck with your project!!

Your best bet is to go to a real Mexican restaurant and ask the server for help. They will be your best resource.
