I have two friends, Saul and Vanessa and they ae super smart...and super NICE...maybe too nice. Theyre in the 8th grade but I think people totally take advantage of them, like teasing them or copying hmk, and just being plain mean, because they know they wont do anything about it or say no. How can they make people gain their respect? Vanessa is my BFF and I cant stand watching ppl make fun of her or/and copy her HMK...so I defend her, but I'm getting really tired of having to stand up to ppl 4 her, then they think IM stuck up, which im not if you get to know me. And Saul, well I just feel bad for him cuz once I sat next to him in algebra and he dumped all his feelings out on me and practically started crying! Im just sick of this crap!
So, once again...do you think people take advantage of nice people? And how can they gain ppls respect?

Wow! This sounds just like me! I used to and I still do sometimes let people take advantage of me. I don't let them do as much as before, but they still do. I have earned more respect over the years by letting poeple take advantage. I let them see how much of a bigger person I am and some people respect that sooner or later. I help them with their problems and I give them respect so they feel guilty. What I did and I'm doing is working for me but I don't know for sure if it will work for your friends. Life isn't always fair. Trust me, I know. Karma baby. That's what keeps me going b/c I've seen it come back around to those people who have taken advantage of me and it will keep going until they get some common sense. Keep strong and support your friends. Good Luck!

It will get better as they get older.
I have always given everything I have to other people and I know I have been taken advantage of. I feel very good about myself at 45 years old. To this day, I have co-workers that try to intervene and say "Stop it, they are taking advantage of you"!
I give, they take, I WIN!!!
I have what they want and they have to find a way to get it from me. Again, I WIN!!! I am Smarter than them and I know that I have the upper-hand. They just do not know that I know it. I am the one laughing at them!!!
You are a Good Person for trying to step in with your Friends. Tell them once or twice then let them do what they want to do.

Yes sometimes, some people who are not very nice themselves. Nice people should make a habit out of only being around OTHER nice people. Nice people will get taken advantage of, trust me, I am one of them. I am now pretty suspicious of just about everyone and don't let anyone get close for fear of being used. It's sad. I try to only talk to other really nice people.

People do take advantage of nice people with no back bone. If you're nice but can stand up for what you believe in, people will respect you. Tell your friends this, and help them stand up for themselves.
Good Luck! :)

If you want the answer to this, and you're a nice person, send me a $1,000 dollars. I will not take advantage of you.
Send it to P.O. Box 69 in Beverly Hills, CA 90210.

definently, that same thing happened to me in the 6th grade, but once I got to 8th grade the response turned into, "I'll help YOU figure out the answer if you can't get it yourself" that response usually turns away the people only trying to cheat. However if they will listen to her explanation, then they should be EXPLAINED not given answer. Even the shyest/ least confrontational person can say this.

Some people are just bullies, and enjoy hurting "nice" people.
This has been going on for ages - there is no pat answer. Hope your nice friends figure out a way to be accepted. Good for you, for being their friend.

There's only one way, they have to learn to say no. They have to learn to value themselves above exploitative people who have no intention of doing their own work. These people are typically weak and will not be much of a threat when they get cut-off at the source and have to put-in their own effort.
