I read a book called The City... About killer pigs that terrorised a small community... I still have the book!
I started reading Stephen King, James Herbert and Shaun Hutson books when i was around 8... All 3 authors are fantastic writers and the books are brilliantly descriptive... When i read the books i can see it all being played in my head, like a movie.
Good stuff :)

I always thought Goodnight Mister Tom was pretty grown up, I was about ten when I started that (still have it, it's the best) but my first grown up - grown up was The Gift by Daniella Steele, that one had naughty bits in! I read that at about twelve because I went camping with my grandparents and was really bored so nicked one of my grandmas books.

Grown up in what way?
I remember reading a book called "where did i come from?"
it had an overlarge couple in it and explained the process of where babies come from.
I read the famous five i thought that was quite grown up when i was 6 or 7.

The first book I read was "Dracula" by Bram Stoker when I was ten. I begged my big sister to get it for me when we went camping and she did. I loved that book. It had a big picture of the Count on the cover in all his bloodsucking glory. I seen a pretty good trailer here the other day about Dracula starring Christopher Lee.

Valley of the Dolls, The Love Machine
When I was pretty young my grandmotehr had a book called Hester Roon, I believe, that was considered pretty racy at the time. My grandmother tried to get me to read these romances about nurses that she called "little nurse books." I don't think they have them anymore.
