It's usually understood that LOVE is sacred thing and LUST is bad behaviour or trait while both had the same utimately goal. That is, to get someone. To be with someone. Regardless of different wide spread and generally accepted and published definations of love, it still has the same hidden desire or longing as does lust. It's universal slang that " All Is Fair In Love And War". So it means that anything can be done , right or wrong, fair or unfair, just or unjust, moral or immoral to get somebody. Why?
LOVE IS A DESIRE TO BE LOVED. One very philosophical explanation of deep seeted desires of being someone , to be caring and be cared, sharing and being shared. So is it pure or sincere thoughts or set of thinking? If both have common goal and longings then why is one thougt to be sacred and the other non-sacred?

See I disagree that **LOVE** is positive sentiment and **LUST** a negative , as it depends on how and where you express them..

To me they are both Positive in their own right,YOU have both psychological and physical sexual love n lust that is a positive sentiment surely..hence both sacred in own rights..

Then you can argue the Negative in that some Dictators *LOVE* the idea of controlling the Country or World per say and *LUST* for conflict so thus giving the Negative spin...so depending on how you use these words we all interpret them differently in some cases.

Love has many levels, too many to discuss here, whereas Lust has different levels and connotations firstly of sexual overtones which whilst for some this is so,others with varied imagination see Lust as a drive to achieve an ends to a means sexual or not...♥

If love is the complete gift of self....

WHY must that physical gift of self only occur within the lifelong bond of marriage....lust is the nature of being human.

Are married acts of sexual intercourse “unitive”, deepening the unity between the spouses who in the act of sexual love fully give themselves to one another?

Isn't this point of LOVE OVER LUST about “restrictions” on our human sexuality.Shouldn't it be about its’ very liberation and its fullness! If marriage is the only environment of love then that leaves lust thrashing, kicking and hanging in the wind. Lust has its place and purpose!

Is It this vision of the beauty of sexuality, with all of its enjoyment and intimacy, that moves us away from lust to love?...well I feel that LUST has Beauty...Lust is a wonderful feeling!

The personal battlefield concerning this is fought in the “heart”, It is there where we also struggle with the reality of what our true nature is and what our passions, desires and indeed lusts are moving us towards.

I have felt Lust without Love. but I have never felt 'Love' without Lust.....very interesting question.

So Lust and Love are a choice one is not better or worse than the other.

I am sticking with the concept as layed out by you the asker, that love and lust are opposed to one another. Obviously, within the confines of a loving relationship, the two could coincide in harmony, assuming they are both directed at your spouse/significant other.

Love is selfless (philosophical arguments to the contrary aside)- it takes into consideration the feelings/wants/desires/needs of others.

Lust is selfish - it considers nothing except it's own satisfaction/fullfillment without regard for others.

ummm, neither the church nor God made sex bad... In fact, God said that would should marry and become one... what do u think that means? Play patty cake... Love is an emotion that can be directed to many people, and things. Lust is a desire to have what u can not have and is ones only thought . ie wanting the new car or the new wife.. To stay in the realm of religion, anything that takes the majority of your thoughts off of God and directed to envy, lust... that is the problem.

It is all about who is in control of your mind.

Actually according to the Vedic knowledge there is no real love in the material world. This world is Maya or Illusion and is a perverted reflection of the absolute world. So love in this world is a perverted reflection of actual love which is spiritual, eternal, selfless and completely blissful. In this world love is temporary, has some self motivation, and full of misery or at least ends in death. You may say it is love but it is only illusion. The closest type of love in this world to the love in the real world is a mothers love for her child but that is still a perverted reflection here. So if one is actually seeking true love don't look outside oneself in this material world, look within the heart and their is a long lost relationship which one just has to turn to. Bhakti Yoga is the process to reestablish this true Love, which culminates in the chanting of the Maha Mantra which quickly reawakens one to that eternal Love. for more info go to stephen-knapp.c

Love is not the same as Lust. Loving someone implies wanting that person to be happy. Feeling lust towards someone means having a sexual attraction towards that person, generally without deeper feelings.

Love is when you desire for that person as a whole, mistakes and all. You love their body, spirit, and mind. Lust is just dwelling on a superficial, physical level. You don't really want to know more about that person, as in when you're in love. You just want a good roll in the hay.

because love is when you are totally head over heals for someone. this is the kind of feeling that you would die for the other one. if people were just in a thing called lust.. then they like them a lot.. possibly growing on the relationship.. but its not a bad thing.. but love is just more definate than lust

Dude, simply put, love considers the one it is given to, and lust only considers the one that is giving it.
