Abraham Lincoln thought so, "the mystic chords of memory" as he wrote. I think as they understand that both IQ and EQ (emotional qoutient) are inherited, that it makes sense if our "instinct" is based on important experiences of our ancestors, same as animals migrate or do other things like their ancestors, without being taught, it comes "natural". We don't yet understand half of what our brain capacity does, or what makes up a personality or "soul", I tend to think our best chances of survival as a species thus far and in the future, has to do with building on the success or failure of our ancestors. But we have to apply it to the situation at hand using what we have been taught, what we know of our enviroment, and see how we instinctively react.

If you subscribe to Jung's theory, then this is a possibility. However, if you don't then more than likely no. It really depends on what perspective you address the question from. If it makes you happy to think that your dead ancestors have anything to do with your day to day life, by all means go ahead and think that. So yes, they do have a great deal to do with the collective unconscious.

The answer to this is still out for research, but, I think, you might be on to something. there has been scientific research where in which chickens whose relatives had been up over by vehicles and killed the future generations seemed to know instinctively not to go into the road even though the farmhouse was close to the road even though they personally might not have witnessed the killings. so go figure, right?

i don't really think that in someone's genes, they could have things which they would dream. that's a little too science fictiony. i always thought that dreams were the unconscious mind running through the thingsn that happened that day, added to what you have done in the past, and how you were/are feeling at the time.
