I've been invited on referral to house-sit in Cambridge next month. I know absolutely nothing about the area. Would it be a safe place for a single woman alone? I have no friends/relatives and would be there for 2-3weeks.

Are there areas to avoid? Anything I should know before I agree to the job?

Thank you

You can get mugged in your own neighborhood.Cambridge is no more dangerous than any other city if you are aware of your surroundings. If it makes you feel safer, get a can of pepper spray, though you probably won't need it.Harvard square is a wonderful place to visit day or night. It's like traveling back to the 60's.Good people, great stores. All in all,Cambridge is a cool place.Have fun and relax.

Cambridge is safe. Use common sense; don't walk alone late at night. Lots of young people because of the colleges in Cambridge. Fun place.

shoe s is pulling your leg. In fact, in 50 years I have never seen a street hooker in Cambridge (Cambridgians who wish to sin like that call an escort service). Cambridge is, remember, a wealthy city of 2 world famous large major universities and one other university, and the average cost of a house is about 2 1/2 million dollars. Not much of a high crime environment. But it is urban, and a city, so crime does happen.

Cambridge as far as I know is a very safe city to live. House prices are very high there, so believe me, not much ghetto people there.

Cambridge is as safe as anywhere else. . . .It's generally well lit, with friendly young people and good areas.

Please, don't even listen to the guy above me.

Cambridge is as safe as they come. It's a clean and neat place. Massachusetts generally is a safe place (compare to other States)
