I have a Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router.

The setup wasn't very difficult and I only had one major snag. I had to change the transmission channel from 6 to 1 (this refers to the frequency at which it recives and transmits, like if you have a cordless phone). This setting can be accessed through your regular web browser by putting 192.168.1.1 in the addres bar of your browser (this is the address for the setup utility for most routers). It will prompt you for a login id and a password. You just leave the login blank and enter the password admin. (this is default and you can change this in the same settings control page)

Then it'll bring up a 'website', even though it's not really on the web, you probably won't notice a difference. There all sorts of settings and when you set the router up initialy you will probably have to do some stuff here. If you have problems, call their tech support. I think the calls transfer to India in the evening, but it's 24/7.

So, once you get one, get it setup so it works with your computer first and make sure that's all working right and networked correctly. Then it should be as simple as turning on your Wii, going into Wii Options > Wii Settings > Internet. A series of prompts takes care of most everything on it's own with little imput from you. If you have problems, it will give you a five diget error code. Write that down and go on www.support.nintendo.com and look it up. They recomend setting your channel to 1-11 I think it said. I did 1 and it worked just like that.

By my experience with a DS, any router but the linksys ones would do fine. I heard it supports WEP, WPA, and WPA2, so that shouldnt be such a fuss (DS only supports WEP). On my SMC router all I have to do to enable it for wireless transmission is type in my IP address on the router and it takes me to a page with two choices. I go to the second choice and make a SSID and encrypt it, very easy. Next you take note of the WEP or WPA key and you go to your wii and search for an access point (I dont know where you do that on the Wii because I dont have one and when you find it you select it and configure it. In most cases auto configuration is all you need and thats all I know about. You also have to enter your key(not passphrase) to complete it. then you test it and if it is successful youre done.
All this is based on my experiences with a DS, so this might be completely useless. Also, if you can wait, theres a ethernet to usb adapter coming out soon for the wii, so you could buy that.

I have a Netgear wireless router and it works great. What I did to set it up was just register my router online and then called the customer support line and they walked me through my setup of the router step by step.
