Never ever ever sing a song or do a monologue from the play you're auditioning for. The director has a certain performance in mind, and if your audition is contrary to that performance you've locked yourself out of a role.

Footloose is based on the film, which had a lot of catchy bouncy tunes. The title song is almost rockabilly. Find a song in your range in that same style, maybe by Billy Joel or Elton John.

I would say a song from the 1980's that is pop. Footloose came out in the movies in the mid 1980's. I hope that I helped you out.

A song from Grease would work well.

Check out http://www.musicalnotesnmore.com/ and see their "Songs of Special Interest" section at the bottom of each musical synopsis. It will list some songs from the show, including what voice part it is for and what it is like ("ballad", "upbeat", "angry", "innocent", etc.).

Or put your parameters into http://www.musicaltheatreaudition.com/smdb/index.html

Never do music or monologues from the play you are auditioning for!!!! Do something you are comfortable with. Show your strengths. Never do something overdone.
