I want everyone to do something together as a group.

For the person who said they are probably pissed at me... This is a question asked by my husband. He works at a telephone company that is very small. The women who direct all the calls, sign people up for phone/internet services, etc are the ones losing their jobs. The company claims they can make more money without them. However, the linemen who INSTALL stuff will not be fired, because they still need them. So it isn't anything like that one person was saying.

You should organise a lunch or dinner get together to celebrate their time with the company and all their hard work.

Ask everyone who comes to bring something (kind of like adult show and tell) relating to their history with the organisation and get people (not the 5 ladies)to be prepared to say something nice - like something they've appreciated about each person who is leaving.

Doing this means that there's a send off for them and something to mark the fact that they worked at the company and their contribution was recognised. Perhaps collect for leaving pressies as well to be given at the lunch.

They will loose their jobs but you'll get to keep yours within the same company...I'm pretty sure that they are pissed and jealous of you. I think you should leave them alone.

I once lost a job, and my coworkers gave me a grocery store gift card for $100. That saved me ***.
