Hahaha. Judging from the I<3 Benji screen-name, you're a So you think You Can Dance? fan aren't you? I'm one too. Anyways, I don't know about dance studios in the entire Bay Area but I know of some GREAT ones in San Francisco. Rythm and Motion is one of them, they're cheap but very good and I think they offer discount classes if you're new to the studio. SFDC( San Francisco Dance Center) is another one, alot of dance legends and SFB members train there. You can visit them at linesballet.com and go to the SFDC link. The last one I can think of is Dance Mission, they offer a variety of classes for a good price and alot of the classes they offer don't require prior training ( Allan Frias from season on of So You Think You Can Dance? teaches hip-hop there). Hope this helps, and good luck.

The Alice Arts Center ( has a new name but can't think of it right now), offers classes really cheap to all ages. If I can find the link, I'll add it to my answer.

Found it:
The name of the Alice Arts Center has been changed to the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts!

The new web address is http://www.malongacenter.org/

This place is located a few blocks from the Lake in Oakland.

Imperial is doing a little bit of that. www.imperialdance.com also Dancespectrum www.thedancespectrum.com
I'm a ballroom person, so I probably don't know the best ones for the style you specified. But I'm sure if you call them up they can tell you where to go.
