Hey! I'm 38 weeks and 3 days and just dilated to two also. This is my first! I found out four days ago that I was dilated and I started having menstrual-like cramping. The next day I felt very nauseus and vomitted a little. The day after that I lost my mucus plug and last night I started having painful contractions. They are not regular so the doctor sent me home (so embarrassing but happens to the best of us). They told me instead of doing the 4-5 minutes apart thing (which is good if you actually wait until they are intense enough but I didn't) to wait until I couldn't walk or talk through them normally. They said by then they would be strong and consistent enough to time accurately. Watch for the plug, watch for bloody show, as you know it could be tomorrow or it could be 3-5 weeks! :)

Oh honey, I know. The waiting is terrible, isn't it? Unfortunatly, there is nothing besides Pitocin that will help you go into labor quickly. I tried EVERYTHING except castoroil to help mine along. This is what I tried:
Pinapple
Sex
Walking
Scrubbing the kitchen floor
Nipple stimulation
None of it worked. I was a week overdue and had to be induced. I'm sorry, I know you wish there was a way, but seriously, it's all just speculation really.
Best of LUCK with your labor and delivery! Wishing you a healthy, speedy labor.

Try doing a lot of walking...or having sex. This may help. There is no sure way to set yourself into labor. The baby will come when it's ready. Hopefully, for your sake, it won't be much longer. Good luck.

They are inducing me tomorrow finally. good luck and hang in there as nature should take it course soon.

I took my wife on long drives over dirt roads and she did a lot of walking. It seemed to speed things up and when she took a nice hot bath her water broke (while I was out jogging). No sure way but, we had three trips to the hospital before the water finally broke.

Raspberry Leaf Tea. Drink lot's of it. I used it with my 3rd daughter and it speeded up the process pretty quickly. You can also try Nature's Birth Drops. It's all natural and very safe. Here is some info:
BabyNature's herbal Birth Drops are used during labor. Simply add approximately 1/4 cup of just-boiled water to 5-10 drops of tincture and allow to cool. Drink as is or dilute further in water or juice. May be repeated every hour if necessary.
Birth Drops contain the following proven herbal ingredients:
Stachys officinalis (Wood betony) is used for overcoming nervousness and is wonderfully calming and soothing for women in labor. This herb also has pain-relieving properties and is often used for migraines.
Blue Cohosh is also known as Papoose Root or Squaw Root due to its extensive use by Native American women for childbirth. Blue Cohosh is known to reduce pain during labor, at the same time improving the efficiency of contractions to speed up the birth process. This herb also alleviates anxiety.
Verbena officinalis is more commonly called Vervain or Wild Hyssop and comes from the Mediterranean region. It is well-known for its ability to relax tension and stress and relieve mild depression. It is used for painful menstruation and labor pains and will reduce nervousness, fever and prevent excessive bleeding. Verbena officinalis is also excellent for stimulating lactation, encouraging successful breast-feeding.
Pulsatilla vulgaris (Pasque Flower) is widely used for relief of nervous tension. It is also highly effective in treating pain and exhaustion in women. Pasque Flower’s analgesic properties are known to be particularly useful during childbirth. It is also recommended for improving ineffectual and weak contractions. Pasque Flower helps to improve mood and is also useful for preventing post-natal depression.
Raspberry leaves (Rubus idaeus) are known to be an excellent herbal supplement for pregnant women, especially those who are nearing the very end of their pregnancy. This ingredient improves the tone of the uterine ligaments and facilitates labor and delivery. Raspberry leaves will also prevent swelling and bleeding after the birth.
Good Luck!!!

I have a feeling that by the time you read this, you'll have a new little baby. But, if not, eat some Mexican food if you can stand the heartburn!

I tried everything... including the castor oil... ended up having it induced due to low amniotic fluid... and 18 hours later a c-section...
Just try to hang in there!!!! That baby will be coming out one way or another!!
