So, in your world, in order to be a liberal, I must be for abortion. Guess I've suddenly become a conservative against my will.

The 2 big things Jesus taught us are "love thy neighbor" and "judge not lest ye be judged". These are most often followed by liberals, not conservatives. I don't recall seeing the words "flag burning" or "gay marriage" in the New Testament, either, but the way conservatives preach intolerance on these issues, you'd think they were part of the Big 10. Maybe I need to upgrade to New Testament - The King George version.

As far as Jesus being a liberal:
on taxation -"render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's"
on welfare -"Give, and it will be given to you."
on tolerance - "Do not judge, and you will not be judged"
etc.

The hatred and intolerance I see being preached by the "other side" is very un-Christ-like, and therefore, very unChristian.

no but you skipped every other part.. dead babies and gay marriage have become the trademark of the afflicted ditto head. you have to turn off the television now .. your getting sloppy and out of focus. Haven't you noticed the strong movement by the evangelical right to broaden their issue base? Only a few other ditto heads are still hanging on to those relics of false and self righteous morality.. anyway who the heck do you all think you are anyway trying to tell the rest of the world hat to do?... I think Jesus would pity you ..
because he was a "liberal" "free thinker".. how do you think he ended up on the cross? Resisting your kind of thinking... you people are Romans 2006 style that's all...and you would string up Jesus again, just like you shot the Kennedy's and Martin Luther King, and Malcolm x... how do you know that any one of them wasn't the second coming? do you really believe for one minute that because you have latched on to these buzz word sound bite issues that you are moral?
Fools !

Consider this; most conservatives, if not 98% of them, supported the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. In fact, I think every pastor (shame they're actually called pastors) on the Christian Television Network, and the Trinity Broadcasting Network made reference to the war in Iraq being a righteous cause, Dr. James Kennedy (a man who has not a clue as to what the gospel is) was a signatory to a letter sent to the President in October of 2002 claiming that there was moral justification for invading Iraq.

Now, I want you to consider the words of your Lord (i'm assuming you're a professing Christian) and tell me how they add up with his so called followers:

Matthew 5:38-39 "You've heard it was said an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, but I'm telling you to not resist an evil person, if he slaps you in one cheek, turn to him the other one also."

Or; Matthew 5:43-45 " You've all been taught to love your neighbors and hate your enemy, but I'm telling you to love your neighbors and your enemies, bless those who curse, do good to those who persecute you and pray for those who despitfully use you so that you may be the sons of your father in heaven, he causes his sun to shine on the just and the unjust, and his rain to fall on the rightoues as well as the wicked, therefore be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect."

Now, what about the conservative political perspective on the war could possibly be attributed to Jesus Christ? Any? Don't spit in the face of the son of God! Yes abortion is wrong, but Jesus also said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone", his point being that no one is without sin, so stop judging other people, and take a second look at yourself.

What is with people asking if Jesus is a liberal? No one here ever spoke with Jesus. He did not have conservatives and liberals in his day anyway. If you follow what modern man believes are th teachings of Jesus, then you know he loves all who believe. I don't think he meant "believe in Republicans" or "believe in Democrats," but rather "believe in God."

Christ preached love acceptance and tolerance. He himself never spoke one word against homosexuality. I used to be against gay marriage on the basis it was against my religion and someone said Christ never spoke against it and I read through the entire words of Christ and lo and behold that person was right.
I dont know if Jesus would have been a liberal but I have serious doubts that would approve of the evangelical christian right movement in this country right now. People use his name to justify all kinds of horrible things when really he had a pretty simple message.

You know Bud, Dead babies are only the ones that are born then die or get killed. To me unless he/she is born then they are just a fetus or embryo. If you don't like Abortions, simple solution, don't get one. If you can't have one because you're a dude, then shut your mouth.

If you don't think it's true and want Jesus kept out of politics, why do you keep bringing this up?

Don't you know Jesus died on the cross for his open-minded and progressive views?
Did you skip the part in the Bible where Jesus shows patronage towards the poor?
