I was 2cm dilated on tuesday but have been having contraction 7-10 minutes apart since last saturday. I was at the hospital saturday last week again on monday and again for on Tuesday for my regular OB appointment they said not to come in to the hospital unless my contraction went to 4-5minutes apart and more painful. My QUESTION IS HAS ANYONE BEEN IN LABOR FOR A WEEK AND IF SO HOW MUCH LONGER THAN ME AND ALSO HOW WAS YOUR DELIVERY LIKE IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY BODY? They did say they would induce me tomorrow if still no baby by then.. I just wonder if there was someone in the same boat as me?

There's nothing wrong with you. The baby is just getting ready to come out. Sound like they might have to break your water. I had a similar situation. My contractions were so intense and close with my second child for a good two weeks before he was born. Since it was my second child I knew when they were the real thing and I waited until the last minute to go to the hospital(2 minutes apart.) Good luck.

I know a girl that was in labor for almost a week and a half and the docs keep sending her home every time she went to the hospital. She wasn't dilating and the baby stayed at the same station. Then eventually her water just popped and she had the easiest labor. I think she pushed maybe fifteen minutes. But after her water broke her labor speed up and she almost didn't make it to the hospital in time. You should do awesome tomorrow because your body has paced itself and has been working so hard for the last week. I am a little jealous of you. Good Luck and I hope this will help ease your worries.

I was in labor for a month. I had constant contractions and got dilated all the way to 5cm. I had cervical cancer and had 3/4 of my cervix removed. They doctors said that this might have caused what was going on. They induced and I had a normal delivery. you must remember that ever pregnancy is different. I'm sure you will be fine, just hang on I know its painful but it will all be worth it in the end. Congradulations and Good Luck!!

My mom went through this with me. She said hers lasted about a month. It was off and on though so nothing formed a real pattern...it's just let off.

Nothing wrong with your body! It just knows what to do and when. Being induced isn't that bad my girlfriend had it done and she had a great experience. In fact, hers was better than mine. :))

My contractions were about 6-7 minutes apart when I was in full labor. They never got closer, but they were intense and a lot of pressure. It was like my body was pushing this baby out by itself...I was just a bystander! lol.

Good Luck! And, I love the name Owen by the way!!

My friend was in labor for a month. I mean, they don't call it labor if you're not dialating but she was having contractions for that long. Are your contractions painful? It's normal to have a lot at the end of a pregnancy. There's nothing wrong with your body- it's just your uterus practicing. It's annoying, though.

I was in active labor (4 cm, 85% effaced) for 24 hours, but I had been in "labor" for a little over a week. Basically your body is preparing you for the actual labor. You'll KNOW when it's time to come in. You'll feel the pain.

I was induced, and it isn't fun but then again labor itself isn't exactly fun. Just relax and let your body do as it's supposed to. Don't worry--you'll have your baby in your arms soon.

Yes. I was in labor for 2 weeks. I was in the hospital every other night swearing that it was time. Finally after my due date I went in and then the next morning they induced me. (I was never dialated) The pitocin only made me dialate 3 cm then they did an emergency c-section due to my heart rate increasing and my sons decreasing. he was born perfectly fine. Good luck.

i did the same thing that you are. i was a waitress so i was on my feet a lot. i think that's what caused it. anyway, they had to stop my labor twice! they finally let me deliver, but he was still 4 weeks early. when it came time for me to deliver, i didn't even want to go to the hospital because i thought that they would just stop my labor again!

I had a friend who went through the same thing for 2 weeks - if the dr. thought there was something wrong, he/she would tell you so. Don't worry and congrats!

I had to be induced. Get ready for pain on a regular basis. Hold on, cause your about to go on a ride!
