Yes I have.

What you do depends on the age. As someone else wrote here, when young it's a "this is perfectly natural, but something that is done in private" type of talk.

When older, probably more of the same...assuming they were in private and mom barged in, then more of an apology and reassurance that going forward you'll try to remember to work harder on respecting privacy.

I told my boys about the "birds and the bees" when they were pretty young. Matter of fact, casual...and as the years went on I added information or advanced the conversation (STDs, etc.)

I don't think they minded that it was coming from their mom. I just tried to be easy-going and relaxed about it. And honest.

Yes - one son when he was about 5. He liked to sit on the couch, watch tv and just...go to town! I told him in a very normal way that it's cool to do that but probably better to do it in his room.

Accidentally walked in on the other son at about age 13. I just went, 'whoops!' and walked away. We didn't talk about that specific thing, but both sons have always been very open with me - and I with them. We don't talk it to death, but we don't treat it like it's dark or bad either. My attitude is that stuff like that is no more or less normal than scratching your arm when it itches.

Even as babies they touch themselves. That is what boys do I guess. I have ALWAYS let our boys know that they can come to their dad or I ANYTIME they want about ANYTHING they want. At this point they still talk about sports or whatever, but they are only 10, 8 & 5.
