I've always been a huge sweet tea drinker and i'm now 6 weeks pregnant. I've been cutting down alot, but it's such a hard habit. It's not like I'm smoking or drinking alcohol but i know it's still not that good. what is your opinion on it?? How many cups are "ok"? Thanks for your advice.

Before I found out I was pregnant I drank at least 3 big glasses of ice tea a day but now I only drink tea very once in awhile. I would ask your doctor what he/she thinks but caffeine is not good while pregnant. I miss drinking tea and can't wait until I can drink as much as I want again.

Not that bad. Just don't drink like six cups a day! One or two cups a day is fine. If you can get decaf, even better. I drank a few caffeinated drinks during my pregnancy and I was fine. And I hear you on the sweet tea....I grew up in the South and it's my favorite drink of all time. :)

Its perfectly fine to drink. If that is what you like then drink it. If you have already cut down alot then Im sure you are doing just fine. Im a coke drinker, and I stopped drinking it only because I had bad morning sickness and now that its gone Im back to drinking it often. I have done it with all 4 babys. They were perfectly healthy kids. Like you said, at least your not smoking or drinking which is far worse.

The caffeine and artificial sweeteners in tea is what you need to cut out of your diet. Even some so-called decaffeinated drinks still contain a small amount of caffeine. Try switching over to flavored water. Check the ingredients on the label.

Well, since it has sugar in it which turns to fat, it's not necessarily too good to have a lot of it. But, it's understandable considering you are pregnant. What I'd do if I were you is make/buy unsweet tea and sweeten it with some splenda, that way you don't have the calories or the sugar of sweet tea.

Good luck!

I'd cut down on the caffene, but its not going to be detrimental if you drink sweet tea now and again. Snapple has decaffinated regular tea (I know, not sweet tea) in bottles. I used to buy out the store -- its hard to find, but good.

Doctors have recently changed theur position on caffiene and pregnancy. A small amout is okay. You could also switch to decaffienated tea. Unless you are diabetic, moderate amouts of sugar should not be a problem

The question is how devoted are you to your baby. Your doctor already told you to eliminate caffeine. If you plan on being a mother devoted to their child's best interest, you will stop drinking The tea. You can go to decaffeinated tea.. I think you are at nexus of motherhood.Asking yourself..... Am I going to live the rest of my life doing the best I can for my child? It's tuff, I know you will make the correct decision,if not you wouldn't have put it out there. GO GIRL!!!!!!! GOOD FOR YOU!!!
