No, not even close to $18 per hour for a beginner. It would also depend on your educational qualifications and work history/experience (you didn't mention any).

Hint - The next time, have an idea of what the starting salary is before you apply for a job, so you won't tell them your 'desired salary' is too much higher than they are willing to pay. The first impression they get of you, in most cases, is what you write on the application, then, what you say during the interview [of course appearance fits in there too] .
Good luck.

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career. $18 per hour for teller? No. Maybe $10/hr

Also, why'd you apply if you didn't know anything about the position?

No. A teller will be lucky to get 7 an hour. Go to college, so you can justify getting a good job that pays well.

I wouldn't count on it . I would think you would have to get a few years in to get that much.
