It seems to me that the drivers side windshield wiper blade goes bad first, coincidence or what?

More than likely the arm the blade connects to has been bent sometime or ice over and meesed it up. They are spring loaded and if they are bent anymore that can happen. Try bending it out away from the windshield a littel that should solve it.

Probably because the drivers side would receive most of the
dirt & contaminants from the road surface.Dirt, road solvents,
oil vapors, etc.play havoc with those blades.
This is a real problem for those vehicles that still have recessed
wipers on both sides,if such a thing exists anymore.

It is possible that you notice it first, because it is directly in front of you. The other side, may develop problems, but goes unnoticed for a while.

That's a definite 'or what'. That's usually the side that you look out mostly, and so there's more wear on that side. *wink*
