In Oregon (whole state) it was 5 cents per can. When I was a kid my friends and I used to wander the streets on the way to the store, pick up 4 or 5 cans and turn them. Then we had enough to buy a candy bar. This was great to us kids because we didn't have to whine to parents for money.
