Does anyone else out there have a short luteal phase? My luteal phase is generally 8-10 days and normally I have spotting by the last couple of days. I have read that you need at least 10 days of a luteal phase for implantation to occur. In January, I meet with a fertility doctor (30 yrs old, ttc 1yr). In the meantime, do you have any advice for me such as using a progesterone creams or herbal supplements? Any advice or personal stories are appreciated :)

I'm not sure of the natural approach- but I have a short luteal phase too. Most of the time a short luteal phase is caused by a lack of progesterone. My infertility doctor prescribed the Noveral Shot on the day I ovulate (or to help ovulate if I don't on my own) and then again on my cycle day 23. Noveral is HCG hormone that triggers your body to produce progesterone. I'm also give a progesterone test on day 23 and if it's low, I'm prescribed a progesterone supository. After discovering the luteal defect, I conceived the following month. I unfortionately miscarried, but know the doctors and I both know that I can conceive. Which I guess is something positive.

I wish you the best of luck, and lots of baby dust!

I was 29 when i was diagnosed with a short luteal phase. I took one round of clomid and now have an 8 yr old daughter as a result!
we had been trying for nearly 1 1/2 years before we started on anything.
Good luck and God bless.

I have tried progesterone cream...it didn't work for me. As a matter of fact it did nothing. My cycle was exactly the same. My Ob/Gyn also told me not to use it because it can alter things you don't want altered. So, this month I started taking B6 vitamins coupled with folic acid. The B6 helps strenghten your uterine lining which should (cross our fingers) lengthen your luteal phase, and the folic acid helps in cell division, which should help the egg divide. I don't know how this will work, but it's worth a try. My Ob/Gyn said this was an ok experiment... I hope things work out for you. Good luck.

can I say I too had a short LP. 2 years ago in august. Saw a fetility doc. WHO said was due to my weight. BUT 1 round of clomid and concieved my beautiful little girl.

I had heard of b6 supppliments. BUT I never did it.

BUT just so you know it might rectify its self.

My daughter turned 1 in sept. and we got preggers on an accent in august. MY midwife mentioned ONCE you get pregnant its so easy to get pregnant afterwards. ULESS you have ovulation issues.

I was not 100% ready for this one. MORESO decided we get the 1 year of trying under our belt before seeing the fertility clinic again.

Heres hopping to a little one in your near future
