Well I'm not sure about the foam, but Burma Shave was in use in the early 1800's.

Burma shave was a round bar of lathering soap that fit into a mug and a shaving brush was used to create lather to go on the face. I know they still used a straight razor then.

If I were to guess when cans of foam came on the market, I would think it would be after 1945.

I was born in 1941 and my father and grandfathers used the brush with the mug.

But they were everywhere in the 1050's.

I hope this is helpful.

I remember as a boy in the sixties that someone came up with a product called "Crazy Foam" that was supposed to be used in the bath (good clean fun for kids) The product never caught on but I believe was the forerunner of todays shaving foam in a can. Dont know who invented it though
