My husband and I have been trying for 8 full months. We both have been tested and are both healthy and there should be no reason we cannot conceive but I'm still not pregnant. I've been on Clomid for 3 months and we have been having sex every other day exactly when we should which included day 10 thru 20 of each cycle. I have high progesterone levels which means I am very ovulatory. I was 3 days late this month so I thought I was pregnant and of course I started my period today. I'm having an HSG performed this Thursday so I'm hoping that might shed some light on why it's not happening. Any insight would be very helpful....

I have also been reading "Taking Charge of your Fertility" which is an excellent book. I've been ttc for 1 year now and this past month, I tried "Pre-Seed" which is a lubricant that can help if you do not have eggwhite quality cervical fluid on your fertile days.

Here is the website:

Chin up! I know it's hard but getting depressed will only make it harder.

Who would've thought that getting pregnant would be so hard?? It surely can be and I went through a lot to get pregnant, as well.

I was charting my temps to see exactly WHEN I ovulated. I actually wasn't until I started Clomid, but even when on the meds, it is VERY beneficial to know WHEN you ovulate. Maybe you ovulate later and missed the window. I would highly encourage temp'ing. You can do it free at www.fertilityfriend.com. They have instructions and all that good stuff.

Other fertility signs to look for include checking your cervical position (although I never could reach that far up and some people say it isn't always accurate) and that wonderful cervical mucous! When you get that thin, watery/egg-white type of mucous/discharge...go at it!!! That is the MOST fertile time! Of course, you can have that after you ovulate, as well, however it wouldn't be fertile, obviously. I think that is why it can be beneficial to chart....to see when you ovulate and what is fertile or not. I always took my charts to my OBGYN, too, so they could see what was going on.

Good luck with the hsg! Hope everything turns out ok! Just hang in there. It isn't easy...very frusterating.....but it isn't the end of the road for you!!!!

I know how you must be feeling..really..we've been trying for the past 11/2 years...all our tests are normal..gosh..ive been thru the same crying phase..you just have to hang in there...crying and getting upset really spoils the delicate emotional balance our bodies have....try learning a new skill e.g playing the guitar, take a language courseetc..its working for me..ive just about started with the bbt and ovulatory kits..they do work..just keep going..ive stopped telling my husband that iam ovulating...like another friend said..just appear really atrractive to him during those days..and a few days before and after...believe in God and iam sure we'll be blessed...good luck

Don't lose hope. It takes the average, healthy couple up to one year to conceive naturally. For as much of a problem as teen pregnancy is in today's world, you would think that getting pregnant is as easy as ABC! However, in all actuality, a woman is only most likely to conceive one day out of her cycle. So, all I can say is keep up with the doctor's orders, and good luck.

Actually Julie........ I was reading Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler.....and she mentions that Clomid has side effects that ironically will affect getting pregnant.

You see...... our body releases the milky, yolk like discharge so that it "guides" and "protects the sperm from the acidity environment in our vagina. Chlomid.... on the other hand... is made to make you more fertile.... but it dries out your discharge that your body should be discharging to protect those little swimmers. So in reality.... your vagina is probably a hostile environment right now... and is killing the sperm. Talk to your doctor about the side effects of Chlomid...and he will tell you.

yeah i was that way when we first started...i got really upset but you just gotta get past it because crying isnt going to help...and you thinking about it and being depressed all day is going to just make matters worse..your going to stress him out also and then he wont be able to perform the way he needs to. you need to get it together. have you thought about trackingf your cycles with either urine test, checking your saliva, bbt, or a cervix check? i know its frusterationg and ive been there jus t make sure your not having too much sex and confusing his swimmers goodluck to you!
